Light is the engine of every grow. Before you buy gear, decide how much canopy you need to cover and how many hours of light your plants will get each day.
Look at intensity (PPFD), spectrum and heat — not just watt labels. A smaller, well-placed light often beats an oversized lamp that cooks seedlings.
Start simple: one reliable fixture, correct hanging height, and a timer. Upgrade later when you know your space and crop.
